Black Eyed Peas Launching Music Academy in New York City

Kevin Mazur/WireImage(NEW YORK) -- Though their Peapod Foundation charity, the Black Eyed Peas have established music academies in their home state of California that empower young people.

Now, they're taking that model across the country and opening their first such academy in New York City.

The Peapod Youth Voices Academy will make leading technologies for art, dance, music and video production available to under-served youth, to encourage self-expression, creativity and digital literacy.  The school will open in July, with programs for kids aged 13-19.

In a statement, Will.i.am said, "Our passion for music and media was fueled by many generous people on our road to success.  Expanding the network of...academies enables us to pay it forward, giving more youth the skills and encouragement they need to realize their dreams."

In announcing plans for the academy, Fergie told a group of kids, "We are here to be that support that I had from my mother.  I want to be the support for whatever dreams you have and give you the strength to say, look, you can achieve whatever you want to achieve."

John Lennon's Letter on Beatles Split Headed for Auction

David Farrell/Redferns(LONDON) -- A letter from John Lennon to Paul and Linda McCartney regarding The Beatles splitting up is headed for the auction block in Beverly Hills, California next month.

The Telegraph reports that in the letter, which is a draft of a reply to a letter from McCartney, Lennon calls McCartney a "four-letter swear word."  Lennon also takes full credit for starting the Fab Four, writing, "I'm not ashamed of the Beatles -- (I did start it all), but of some of the [expletive] we took to make them so big -- I thought we all felt that way in varying degrees -- obviously not."

Another statement Lennon makes in the letter attacks all the other Beatles regarding their treatment of Yoko Ono.

He writes, "I hope you realize what [expletive] you and the rest of my 'kind and unselfish' friends laid on Yoko and me."

Pictures of the two-page letter can be seen at The Telegraph's website.  The letter is expected to fetch up to $65,000 at auction.

Kevin Winter/Getty Images(NEW YORK) -- He's got an Oscar, but now Jeff Bridges is going for a Grammy.

The legendary actor, who won an Academy Award for playing a washed-up country singer in the movie Crazy Heart, will release his debut album in late summer.  The disc is being produced by Grammy-winning producer T Bone Burnett, who has known Bridges for 30 years.  He collaborated with the actor on the Crazy Heart soundtrack, and also worked on the soundtrack of his cult classic The Big Lebowski.

Burnett's production resume includes work with Elton John, Gregg Allman, Robert Plant, Roy Orbison, John Mellencamp, Tony Bennett and many other stars.

Bridges' album will include his own compositions, as well as material written by established songwriters.  To kick off his career as a recording artist, he'll appear on the cover of Esquire magazine's music issue, which hits newsstands April 26.

As for whether or not Bridges will hit the road to promote the disc, he says, "You never know.  We'll see.  I'll get out and play...[but] I don't know how long [a tour] would be.  But I'd love to get out there...it's fun to play with guys on the road."

Charlie Sheen's Goddess Bree Olson Not Gone for Good

ROBYN BECK/AFP/Getty Images(FORT WAYNE, Ind.) -- Charlie Sheen's goddess, Bree Olson, has left the self-proclaimed warlock and returned to her Indiana home town, but she's not gone for good.

Despite reports claiming that the porn star decided to call it quits with Team Winning, a rep for Olson told E! News, "She went back to Fort Wayne to attend to personal issues including a court date coming up.  It was planned long before the tour started that she was going to leave at some point during the tour.  They just were not sure what day she was going to leave the tour."

Olson, whose birth name is Rachel Oberlin, has been dealing with a DUI charge in Indiana stemming from a February arrest.  The rep added that Olson plans to rejoin Sheen and gal pal Natalie Kenly at Sober Valley Lodge by next month.

'Dancing with the Stars': Supermodel Petra Nemcova Voted Off

Bob D'Amico/ABC News(LOS ANGELES) -- Supermodel Petra Nemcova and partner Dmitry Chaplin were voted off ABC’s Dancing with the Stars Tuesday night after receiving the lowest overall combined total of judges’ scores and viewer votes.  The couple had danced a fast-moving, Las Vegas-inspired quickstep to Elvis Presley's "Viva Las Vegas" Monday that ended with the supermodel throwing casino chips into the air.  Judge Carrie Ann Inaba noted afterwards that Nemcova had made a few stumbles on the dance floor.

After getting the bad news Tuesday, Nemcova told co-host Brooke Burke the dancing experience has been a life-changing journey for her.  The supermodel also revealed that people have even been inspired by her efforts to organize dance-a-thons at schools to raise money for her charity foundation for children, the Happy Hearts Fund.

Tuesday’s "Macy’s Stars of Dance" performance told the story of a small-town boy’s journey through the Big Apple in pursuit of the American dream.  Jamal Sims, whose choreography credits include the movies Footloose and Step Up as well as numbers for Britney Spears and Miley Cyrus, choreographed and starred in the performance.  The results show also featured Toby Keith performing his hits "Should’ve Been a Cowboy" and "American Soldier."

There are seven couples remaining going into next week’s competition, dubbed Guilty Pleasure week, which will feature the contestants dancing to what host Tom Bergeron describes as “Songs you love but are afraid to admit you love.”  Next week will also feature a results show musical performance by ousted American Idol singer Pia Toscano, accompanied by a dance performance by Mark Ballas.  Toscano and Ballas have recently made headlines for a friendship that many believe is more than platonic.  Also look for former boy bands Backstreet Boys and NKOTB, aka New Kids on the Block, to perform on next week's results show.

Dancing with the Stars returns next Monday at 8:00 p.m. Eastern on ABC.

Kara DioGuardi Reveals Past Sex Abuse in New Memoir

Paul Archuleta/FilmMagic(NEW YORK) -- In her upcoming memoir, A Helluva High Note, songwriter and former American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi reveals that she was molested as a child, date-raped by a famous record producer and sexually harassed by a "hugely successful artist."

DioGuardi says she first endured sexual abuse at age 11 at the hands of a male family friend.

"On one particular day, he took me into the back shed of his house and put his hands all over my breasts and vagina," she writes, according to a book excerpt obtained by E! News. "I remember freezing and not knowing what to do."

In 2000, she says, she found herself in a similar situation with a "fairly known producer." After sharing what she thought was a friendly dinner, DioGuardi describes how he forced himself on her. According to E!, DioGuardi repeatedly told him to stop but didn't physically fight him because she feared he'd turn violent. She stayed silent about the incident until now, because she feared it would destroy her career.

A few years later, DioGuardi says, she was sexually harassed by a "hugely successful artist" during a three-day songwriting trip. Instead of working on music, she writes that "the trip's activities consisted of watching Russian porn, scavenging around the kitchen for food [and] leering at two strippers...as they performed sex acts in the living room."

Still, DioGuardi continued to work with the artist. She writes, "I wasn't gonna let this bastard deter me from doing the job." Eventually, though, she cut off ties with him after he "chased her around the basement of his suburban home and forced her hand on his privates," according to E!

DioGuardi's memoir comes out April 26, a little more than a month before the May 30th premiere of her new reality competition show on Bravo, Platinum Hit.

Simon Cowell Leaves UK Edition of 'The X Factor'

Paul Drinkwater/NBC(LONDON) -- Now that Simon Cowell is busy with the U.S. edition of The X Factor, he won't have time to star on the British version of the singing competition. ITV, the network that airs The X Factor in the U.K., says Cowell will not serve as a judge on its version of the show when it returns for a new season this summer, according to Variety. However, ITV says Cowell, who owns the rights to the program, will continue to be an "enormous presence backstage."

Cowell will be a judge on the U.S. incarnation of The X Factor, which premieres on Fox this fall. Interestingly, British pop star Cheryl Cole has been rumored as one of Cowell's fellow panelists on The X Factor, even though she's currently a judge on the British version of the show.

Charlie Sheen Appears In Court, Fights for Custody of Kids

Jeff Kravitz/FilmMagic(LOS ANGELES) -- For Charlie Sheen in court Tuesday, defeat was an option.

The actor left Los Angeles family court late in the morning after failing to win full custody of his twin sons, Bob and Max. He and his estranged wife, Brooke Mueller, showed up for Tuesday's emergency hearing shortly after 8 a.m. PT.

According to TMZ.com, no change was made in their custody agreement, which means that Mueller maintains primary custody of the boys.

E! Online reported that while Mueller said "I'm not commenting" as she left the closed-door hearing, she was "smiling, crying, hugging her lawyer, winking at reporters and giving the thumbs-up sign." Sheen, meanwhile, walked out of the courthouse quietly, holding hands with his girlfriend Natalie Kenly, surrounded by a somber-looking entourage.

Sheen and Mueller finalized their divorce months ago, but it does not become official until May 2. The renewed custody battle -- the couple reached a custody agreement last month -- came amid reports that Mueller has returned to rehab. According to TMZ.com, she recently refused a drug test that she was required to take as part of her custody agreement with Sheen.

Sheen, who is traveling the country with his Violent Torpedo of Truth tour and was due in Washington, D.C., Tuesday night, wanted custody of the twins and wanted to cut off all of Mueller's child support, which amounts to $55,000 a month.
